…well, let’s see.
In the garage…in the closet…in my children’s dresser drawers…at the Consignment shop…at a local thrift store…at the Goodwill drop-off.
I have embarked on the great purge project around here, and there’s no turning back now.
Computer time?…not so much.
I’ve just about wrapped up the boys’ stuff…there’s just one more shelf in one more closet to attack…and then it’s on to our Master Bedroom closet and dressers.
The kitchen and laundry room (where we have lots of storage) will follow.
We don’t have a clear time frame on throwing the “For Sale” sign in the yard…we’re just working steadily and diligently toward that goal. Our painter will start on our exterior next weekend. When the outside of the house looks all purty and the inside is close to done, we’ll stick a “come and get it” sign in the yard and pray for the best. It’s kinda hilarious to be doing this right now…could the market be any worse?!
So that’s what I’ve been up to and that’s why posts are a bit sparse around these parts lately. I’m hoping to be able to post some news on the whole job front soon…we’ve got some things brewing in that regard. Thank you for praying…

…to get er’ sold.
Since our Saturday Children’s Ministry work day (which brought the first quarter of planning and preparation to near completion), I’ve been able to focus a little more on the task of readying our house for market.
The biggest task that was facing us before we could place a “For Sale” sign in the yard was completed last year when we replaced all of our carpet with laminate flooring. I’m so thankful that we’re not having to deal with that right now.
The interior of our house is in pretty good shape. All that is needed is a good scrubbing, a few new window blinds and some touch up paint here and there. Not hard…just a little bit of elbow grease and it will be good to go.
The exterior of our house is another story.
Doug and I are not…by any stretch of the imagination…landscaping types. If there is a plant that is “hardy”, I dare it to come stay in our yard. We’ve got a mess of shrubs under our front window…”snow on the mountain” I believe they are called…that are ummm…dead. Bless their hearts…they managed to survive a little over three years of our “care” and finally gave up the will to live. A few pitiful little pink leaves are hanging on for dear life, but it’s time to put a fork in them. Yep…need to pull up everything and try again. We will need to time the completion of the project for the afternoon before the sign goes in the yard and then pray for a quick sale before we kill off all of our new foliage.
Our house could also use a new coat of paint. We’ve hired a neighbor to do the job…he will start in the next few weeks. I’m scrambling to choose paint colors. We’re beige now…I would like to go yellow with a red door. Isaac and I will hit the paint store later this morning.
I’m also starting the most ruthless purge project that I’ve ever taken on. I completed a huge purge last year after our flooring replacement forced the issue, but I’m ready to go extreme this time. I’ve joined a local Freecycle group and I look forward to freecycling and donating a lot of our unused, unnecessary belongings.
So that’s what I’m up to on the homefront. Off to the paint store…

…well, I don’t know.
Doug has four weeks left at Disney. I’m so thankful that they gave the group five weeks to perform beyond their “close of show” notice. By contract, it only had to be two. Disney has been very gracious in all of this and we’re grateful. We’ve been given time to pray and explore our options carefully.
On the Disney side of things, there’s some activity. All of the guys will be auditioning for a Christmas show…it would be a two month gig. Doug was also given a contact by Disney to set up an interview for management opportunities. He has prepared his resume and will pursue that as well. Disney is keeping all of the guys on as employees…they will go from full-time to “Casual Temporary” status…allowing them to sub in other shows around property (Voices of Liberty or Dapper Dans). They also are placing the group in their “convention talent” pool and will use them as entertainment in that capacity.
On the church side of things, the church board and leadership guys are praying about and carefully studying the feasibility of bringing Doug on staff.
We don’t know how the Lord is going to work it all out…we’re just walking and waiting. We’re really excited to see what happens next.
One thing we DO know…it’s time to put a “for sale” sign in our yard. We’ve sensed pretty strongly in the past few months that it’s time to relocate to the Mount Dora area…now we’re positive. It’s going to be fun to watch how God gets this thing sold in such a terrible market.
So…that’s what’s up with the job situation. I know a lot of you are praying and I can’t express enough how much I KNOW that you are praying. We have such a peace and our home is still laughing and joyful and free from worry. God is good.
I’ll keep ya’ll posted…

…at the Teel house.
Saturday was another work day at church for our Children’s Ministry. It was wonderful…we were blessed with a lot of amazing workers who came to help finish planning the curriculum for the rest of the quarter and prep all of the lesson materials for each class. We had a lot of fun…and consumed a lot of chocolate. Quarter 1 is a-l-m-o-s-t complete.
Saturday night, we were blessed with a date night by a mystery donor from our church. This couple (or couples?) purchased tickets for Doug and I…along with some other couples from church…to see a musical production titled “The Witnesses”. The show features an actor playing the part of Peter (the actor ROCKED…we were blown away) who tells his account of the days following the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Musical numbers were woven through the narration. It was a wonderful show and we had a blast experiencing it with some of our church family. So…I have no idea who blessed us, but if it was you and you happen to be reading this, THANK YOU for a beautiful night!
Today was our second service in our new building. It was another wonderful day. I’m still freaked out by the lack of chair stacking and tote hauling and toy storing after the service. People just hung around and talked after church…what an incredible and amazing blessing.
So that was our weekend. It was a lovely one. I’ve got more to write, but I’m sleepy, sleepy, sleepy from it all, so I’ll just say goodnight.
