Tag, I’m “it” again….

January 31st, 2008 by ec

Steph tagged me with this quirky little book meme….

I am to:

1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages long).

2. Open to page 123.

3. Find the 5th sentence.

4. Post the next 3 sentences.

5. Tag five people.

So…

The book is “Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” by John G. Kruis. (an AWESOME resource, by the way…I keep it right beside our computer.  The ONLY counsel that will ever change and restore anything is straight out of scripture, anyway.  Just sayin.)

Anywho….

The 3 sentences are:

“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock Eternal.”  Isaiah 26:4

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Phil. 4:6-7.

Awesome.

So….

1.  KnittingWannabe

2.  Unofficially-Nameless

3.  MotheringMatters

4.  SmithSchoolhouse (I don’t have the link to this one…)

5.  Becks

Tag….you’re it!

Yo!…Dude who designed our new SuperTarget….

January 30th, 2008 by ec

DSC00228

So a new, shiny SuperTarget opened recently in our neck of the woods.

This should have been a happy, happy thing.

It is not.

I have been in Target stores in the Southeast….the Midwest….and on the West coast. Other than some stores having groceries on the left and others having groceries on the right, it’s pretty much a rule that if you’ve been in one Target you can navigate any of them with a fair amount of ease.

Our new SuperTarget?

Ah….nope.

Apparently the person who designed our store threw all of the contents of a regular Target into a large Tupperware container. He (no way it was a “she”) then sealed the lid….shook it up and danced around with it for three hours…..opened the lid….and spewed all of the contents out over 175,000 square feet. That store has been inverted, flipped and inverted again about 95 times. I can’t find anything that I’m looking for and nothing is in the place where it most certainly ought to be.

It has me addled and confused.

This photo of Isaac (around 8 months old) says it all.

Messing with my Target….that’s just WRONG.

This is new….

None

Over the past week, Noah has decided that wearing headphones is a fun thing.

Before last week? Not so much.

I’m sure it has to do with sensory defensiveness, but all of our past efforts to get Noah excited about wearing headphones have been met with polite refusal.

The biggest reason that we wanted to encourage headphone use was so that we could try something called Auditory Integration Therapy with Noah. But…..no headphones….no AIT.

So last week, Noah up and decided that he would pick up Doug’s headphones and listen to Pastor Gib’s teaching on Hebrews….the book that we are currently editing for radio broadcast. He sat for a good 15-20 minutes….much to our shock and amusement.

Now he’s all into it….and asks for the “radio” several times a day.

I don’t get it. All the times we tried…..in at least 59 different ways….to get this kid to wear a set of headphones….and he just up and does it on his own.

I don’t get it….but I’ll take it.

More skills…more open doors. Gotta love it.

Hmmm….IKEA….I can do that….

January 27th, 2008 by ec

So tonight is our “Titus 2″ night.  Basically, it’s our monthly women’s get-together at church where someone teaches the group a homemaking or creative skill.

I have not yet filled the role of instructor on a Titus 2 night because….well….

I have no skills.

I don’t bake, sew, knit, crochet, scrapbook, stamp, craft, make personalized greeting cards or quilt.

Nope….no skills.

BUT….

I do know a little something about shopping at IKEA.

So….that’s what we’re doing for our January Titus 2.  We’re meeting tonight for three hours of fun, fellowship and shopping at IKEA.  I can’t wait.  Ooooohhhhhh….all the pretty colors and containers…..
